WORLD FOOD DAY

Friends and Readers,

Today is World Food Day.  Take a moment to consider how you can help alleviate Hunger, either through supporting a hunger charity, food bank or a neighbor who may not have adequate food.  World Hunger Education Service provides funds to both local and international Non-Governmental Organizations as well as  awareness of Hunger and Nutritional issues.  If there is a hunger charity you support, think about it supporting today; if not, click the become a supporter tab on our website.

The UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) makes the following recommendations at their site.

  • For the past 40 years, since its founding in 1976, the mission of World Hunger Education Service is to undertake programs, including Hunger Notes, that
    • Educate the general public and target groups about the extent and causes of hunger and malnutrition in the United States and the world
    • Advance comprehension which integrates ethical, religious, social, economic, political, and scientific perspectives on the world food problem
    • Facilitate communication and networking among those who are working for solutions
    • Promote individual and collective commitments to sustainable hunger solutions.
