In the race for Indianapolis mayor, ‘food apartheid’ emerges as an issue

The phrase food apartheid is being increasingly used in place of food desert as a way to emphasize the underlying racism in determining where grocery stores are opened and sustained. Candidates for mayor of Indianapolis, Indiana, are highlighting this issue in their campaigns.
