The World Hunger Education Service Welcomes Dan Shaughnessy

The World Hunger Education Service (WHES) welcomes Daniel E. Shaughnessy to its Board of Directors.  

Shaughnessy is the President and CEO of TCR Services, Inc. Originally established in 1983, TCR provides technical, consulting and representation services to corporate and non-profit clients in the fields of international health, food and nutrition, organization management, congressional affairs, international development and related activities.

Prior to rejoining TCR, Mr. Shaughnessy was Vice President of the Council for Responsible Nutrition  (CRN), a 100-company trade association representing the nutritional supplements industry and based in Washington, D.C. Before his appointment at CRN, Mr. Shaughnessy was President and CEO of Project Concern International (PCI), a worldwide health organization based in San Diego. During his eight-year tenure at PCI, Mr. Shaughnessy was responsible for several program innovations including post emergency response and combined domestic/international projects, as well as a fourfold growth in program activities and fundraising.

Mr. Shaughnessy’s experience also includes a wide range of other domestic and international assignments, including a Presidential Appointment and executive positions in several U.S. government agencies and the U.S. Senate.  As Executive Director for the bipartisan Presidential Commission on World Hunger, he directed the commission’s activities and its report to the President and Congress.  He also directed commodity export and food aid programs in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and development and emergency programming in the U.S. Agency for International Development.  When assigned to the Office of the Secretary of State, he helped coordinate U.S. involvement in the United Nations World Food Conference.

A graduate of John Carroll University in Cleveland, Mr. Shaughnessy also attended Boston College Law School and earned a master’s degree in government and business administration from George Washington University.
